All about procedure
The plastic surgery of a vagina or vaginoplasty is considered as a part of aesthetic gynaecology. This procedure is usually carried out on women who gave birth by forces of nature and had an episiotomy performed during natural delivery. Often, when the baby is born, the vagina is being stretched excessively and the incision scar has not been stitched properly or has healed badly.
Vaginoplasty can be performed in three variants:
- anterior vaginoplasty
- posterior vaginoplasty
- full vaginoplasty.
The scope of the procedure is decided by the doctor and the patient during a consultation visit. Often, vaginoplasty is combined with surgical treatment of urinary incontinence, as these conditions often occur in parallel.

PREPARING FOR THE TREATMENT
Before the planned surgery, the necessary examinations should be performed to determine the patient’s state of health. These include:
- morphology,
- blood coagulation factors (APTT / INR),
- creatinine level,
- electrolyte level (Na-sodium, K-potassium).
METHODOLOGY OF THE TREATMENT
Vaginoplasty involves removing excess flabby or damaged tissues and re-sewing them. The effect of the treatment is to restore proper flexibility of intimate places. The vaginoplasty procedure is usually performed under general anaesthesia and lasts about 60-90 minutes. It is important that the patient deciding to have a vaginoplasty procedure perform it immediately after the menstruation has stopped, so that the postoperative wound has time to heal.
POST-OPERATIVE RECOMMENDATIONS
Particular attention should be paid to hygiene during recovery. Use a mild cleaning agent and make sure that the wound is not infected. As in the case of other aesthetic gynaecology procedures, one should be in a reclining position. A special circle with a cut-out in the middle may help in this (also recommended after natural delivery). Recovery takes place at home and the stay in the clinic after the surgery lasts 24 hours.
CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR THE TREATMENT
- pregnancy
- connective tissue system diseases
- menstruation
- poor blood test results
- general organism infections
- genital cancer
- blood coagulation disorders
